CASE STUDY 2 : How Transformational Coaching helped a client to SkyRocket her Career !

The Transforming Power of Coaching – Kalpana Khot

THE SITUATION
Neha seemed to have all the external trappings of a successful life. Married to a successful man, a wonderful child, a successful career with an MNC. But her marital relationship was all a facade that she tried to maintain for as long as she could. The constant mental abuse and pressure of managing all her responsibilities started taking a massive toll on her emotional health.

One day, she walked away from her marriage and took her advocate’s advice of leaving her job so she could claim higher alimony for their child. Without a job she had no choice but to shift to her parent’s home.

THE PROBLEM STATE
The once chirpy, happy-go-lucky girl was now dull, self-doubting, emotionally crippled, financially dependent. Her self-esteem had tanked, and she was fearful of taking even a single step towards the future, which appeared to be in total darkness. Her isolation was complete when she started having difficulties in her relationship with her parents and even her child. She felt like a failure in all aspects if life.

This was the shell of a former self that sat before me, a whole decade later (Nov 2016).

THE DESIRED STATE
When a client is in this type of situation it's important to recognize how vulnerable that person may be. There are two things that need attention
  • Honouring the emotions.
  • Taking time to identify how the story they are telling themselves about the failure might be eroding their resilience and their ability to bounce back and learn from the situation
Here are the 3 Goals/Strategies we followed:
    • Goal/Strategy 1: Honour the truth of her experience
    • Goal/Strategy 2: Identify the key lessons from this failure
    • Goal/Strategy 3: Reconnect to her signature strength and bolster sense of confidence
We started first to work on the fear, self-loathing, and negativity that enveloped her with negative self talk. We managed these and started to notice a positive shift in her energy state. We then started on her self-care habits and her self-confidence, got her to communicate assertively, focused her efforts on her priorities, and ensured there was a balance in whatever she did.

THE DESIRED OUTCOMES
She had started with very little expectations, from herself and from me, but with every session, her energies took a paradigm jump. Within three months she closed the alimony case that had been running since 10 years and the lightness she felt was as if she could breathe easily once again.

Within six months (June 2017) she approached her ex employer, who was happy to see her back as her former self. She got back to her corporate life but which resulted in the next mountain for her to climb.

She was now out of touch with the massive shifts that had transpired in the corporate world and worried about acclimatising herself with the people, processes, systems. That is where the intensive sessions we had on personal change kicked in and helped her to peak perform because she was able to adapt at an unprecedented pace.

FINALLY DESIRED RESULTS
A year later (Jun 2018) they promoted her to a department and role of her choice. Today, she is thriving, travelling the world, living her dream life. She’s financially and emotionally independent, is very assertive, yet with a far more balanced life. Click link >>below to hear it from Neha
